New damaged snap on tool cart

So I bought this really cool new 40in tool cart from snap on last week, upgraded drawer liners and all, and a truck got dropped on it today. Bought this THIS week. I included a pic of the damage and the cart when new. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it fixed, I'm afraid with chipped paint it's gonna rust. If it was older I don't think I'd mind but I just shelled out 1500 for this Monday. I doubt my snap on rep will do anything because it's not really an issue with the box.

Did this happen in a shop where you work? If so, I would think the shops insurance would cover it.

That blows. Who dropped the truck on it? Make 'em pay for the damage?

Make the **** that dropped a ramp on it pay for it, or workshops insurance

The **** was me lol, I was working on a car and didn't realize the cart started rolling literally as I was dropping the lift down. Otherwise I'd be making someone else pay.

What's weird is the car wasn't damaged in the slightest. After this happened I looked and I can start bending the metal with my hands on the side that's not damaged. I kinda expected better, but then a trucks bumper is what did this. Trucks undamaged thankfully. This was just a big oops on my
Part and very frustrating.

Do you have access to both sides of the damage? If you do, put a steel plate on each side of the dent and squeeze the damage flat with a C-clamp.

I sure do. I thought about taking it to a body shop that a buddy owns and seeing what he could do

I know how you feel. Last week I purchased a new rolling tool box that was sealed on a pallet. I had them unbox it in front of me. I was only able to find a small ding towards the rear....otherwise it looked good.

But here is the fun part. I inadvertently left the key in the lock when they repacked it and then laid that side down in my SUV.

When I unboxed it at home, I couldn't get the other key inside the lock and then realized my mistake (key had broken in the lock). Things happen....but realize it a tool box. Just consider it its first work scar.

BTW....which camera did u use for those photos?

for sure it can be straightened a fair bit but never going look a1 without extra effort & paint.
Is a shame as only week old, I would of cried, one reason I never buy new boxes in busy work environment, seen a few boxes wrecked. lift crush, reversed into and battery acid .
Hope straightens well .

Even though you were the "****", maybe the shop's insurance policy will still cover the damage. It's worth asking.

I feel for ya. Ultimately it looks like it could be straightened and touched up rather easily though....it won't be 100% but I'll bet you can fix it well enough that you can see past it every day. Right now you are beating yourself up about it for sure but someday soon you will just chock it up as a learning experience.

It is not your drivers fault nor snap on, but like what was said maybe he can help you find someone to fix it.
Almost want to cry when You do a stupid.

Yeah I know. I can't go to snap on and say "your tool cart won't support the weight of a truck I want a new one!! I'm gonna talk to my driver and see what he can do. If I can pay to have it repaired so be it. Just upset because it's a week old

I'll bet you can get it straightened up and looking good with some Snapon paint. Probably you'll be the only one that knows it after it is fixed

Nice way to get on the poop list

Yeah that's for sure. I'm just gonna see if my snap on guy will help me out in any way, I'm sure he's going to try to do something I've spent a lot of money with him. Co workers suggested making up a story, Im just gonna tell him what happened and see if he can help. I don't see me trying to charge the shops insurance for being dumb enough to not drop a Tacoma on my cart going too well. I'd get laughed outta the room

I was surprised tho. I saw my boss use his matco cart to hold up an axel. He's nuts

Do the best you can to get the drawers working smooth and the appearance acceptable.

Then just use it and be more careful in the future. I have dropped thick flywheels on my socket set box more than once and it shows. Still in service yet but those old WWII vintage tins are tough.

Sad. But I watched a fellow tech crush his box while lowering a lift. Lift did the crushing. As soon as I heard a noise I turned and saw what was happening. Yelled at him to stop. He stopped but to late. He said he wondered why the lift wasn't going down right. Anyway, he took the box home and about 2 months later it was back looking near new. He and a friend and beer worked on it nightly. One of my techs crushed a tool tray in my shop. Was able to bang it into serviceable shape. Sheep happens !

Sorry to hear. Post some shots once it's fixed! I suspect you can get it pretty close with a little work
