I was on the website for Montezuma tools boxes a few days ago and noticed they now have a line of Dewalt licensed triangle tool boxes. The difference mostly is being designed more towards accommodating power tools with a power strip and place for chargers, along with a holder for at least one power tool like a drill. There's two sizes, a 30" and 36" and both comes in three Dewalt themed color schemes. https://www.montezumastorage.com/pages/dewalt-licensed-tool-storage
As someone who uses a 36" Montezuma box daily during haying season and has been working on a solution for storing some power tools in my service pickup, I'm glad they are addressing this need with a new line of boxes. The trouble is, the more I look and think about how they went about setting these up, I'm not super excited about them. The power tool holder is nice and if it could hold a mid or high torque impact, that could be handy to have that with the normal assortment of hand tools. I wish they would show if it is capable of holding an impact that large instead of something from the smaller Atomic line. The power tool holder also eliminates many of the holes for things like ratchets, extensions, and screwdrivers which may or may not be a worthwhile tradeoff. A place for chargers is nice, but it does take away room from the storage area where I usually stuff things like pry bars and hammers. The inclusion of a power strip makes me wonder if they intend these to be more of a shop box vs an outdoor vehicle mounted unit and maybe that's why the overall design seems a bit off to me.
I get why they went the route they did with the design, but part of me wishes they had made a tool box that was meant to be power tool only that would be a bit smaller overall and could then be paired with another triangle tool box that had the hand tools. That said, I'm looking at it from the perspective of someone who filled a 36" up with as many hand tools as I could and am using it out of a pickup and these new boxes do not really fit my needs. That got me curious about what the people on GJ thought of these boxes and if they have some application that I am not seeing.
