I don't think any light duty scan tool will read heavy duty truck codes. We have 20+ scan tools at college and always have to use a manufacturer specific tool on class 8 trucks.

Problem with OTC scan tools are they are only good for a couple years and discontinue them after 3 years.Plus you have to have CAN abilities too.2004 and up vehicles are CAN and the scan tools will not read anything without the CAN attachment on the 2004 and up vehicles.Vetronix was a good scan tool until thanks to Bosch!Bosch bought out Vetronix a few years ago and screwed it up.The Mastertech is very slow now.Have a Mastertech with the updates from Bosch and is very slow.

The OTC Genesis has been around for a long time. Even with the new Pegasus platform, they have no plans of discontinuing them. With the Genesis, as long as you have the smart cable, your old unit will read CAN without any problems.

Will not buy any SPX product and SPX owns OTC.SPX screws employee's famalies and did that to my father's family over 40 years ago.SPX screwed my father on a Robinair a/c machine that is a POS since day one.SPX must of ereased his info and told him that he was not on thier records.Would not stand behind this piece of **** a/c machine.Have a GM Tech 2 and the Snap On Modis too including the Vetronix Mastertech which is now a Bosch scan tool.Have the Tech 2 since do tons of GM computer work on GMs and it is the only way to unlock a 2001 and currant GM radio if the "LOC" comes on.All SPX corperation makes is garbage and their service *****.
