I closed on my house Friday. The seller (a bank 5 or 6 states away) did not include the remote for the garage door opener. How do I need to go about obtaining one of these... Its a chamberlain liftmaster ( I think) I have not had a chance to get any numbers off of it yet....

Need to see what color the smart button on the back of the motor is. Should be red, purple, or green. After that look online, ebay, or local and pick one up.

Lowe's, Home Depot and such stores carry replacement remotes.
Then you have to program it in.
Get make/model number and look online for instructions on programming.

You do ned to get the right one - but there are only about a dozen or so different ones. Best thing to do is go online, download the manual and it will tell you which one to get.
Besides you will then have a manual. I've had to download manuals for the stove, thermostate etc. when I moved in. Love the internet.

Avoid the universals, they can be a real pain. Do the research and figure out which Chamberlain remote you need and buy that one either at Sears or Lowes or Home Depot. Also, when you are programming it, the first thing you should do is follow the instructions near the smart/learn button to erase all codes then set your new one. Good luck

What he said, don't buy the universals. They make you jump through hoops to program and they are usually low quality.

The receiver went bad in my opener so I bought unit that is plugged into 110v with a wire running to the opener. Problem solved. Just an option.

It comes with a remote. The control box plugs into 110v with a low voltage wire run to the terminals on the motor. If your low voltage button inside your garage still works this will work. Mine is made by Chamberlin. Lowes or HD has them.
