Just signed to have a reputable local company install 2 Clopay 9131 series doors with low head room track and 2 Genie CM8600 openers with key pads. The estimate was for $1990.00 the doors are 12.9 R value cause the garage is heated and is under the house. The winters here in Ohio get somewhat cold so I figured it was worth the extra cost. Any opinions here on this setup? I'll post pictures of the garage when it's done, I've got very little head room.

A grand apice with installed operators doesn't sound bad for a R12 door. A few years ago I spent about 700 bucks for an insulated door installed, but I did the operator myself.
I doubt that my door is R 12 though.

I just got the following quotes for CHI doors installed. If anybody has any experience or feedback on these please let me know. The prices below are for 2" thick doors.
$1,280 16X7 Double insulated steel with glass windows (any style)
$980 16X7 Double insulated steel with no glass windows
$780 16X7 Single steel with no glass but with Vynil wrap insulation
The same doors for an 8X7 door were $750, $600, and $500, respectively.
Anyway, I was told that Clopay doors only come in 1 3/8" thicknesses so please correct me if this is not true.

Those would have to be some really thick doors...I would believe R10...but we might be wrong.
In either case, the price does not sound bad at all. I paid $700 9 years ago for a 15' roll up with no insulation.
Figure a good opener is about $200+....

I think this is an awesome price for these doors. I did buy a Clopay door once (a 16X7 double steel insulated) and I remember paying over $1,200, and that was about 8 years ago too.

From there website their premium doors are 1/38 to 2" inches thick depending on the door. If those prices are installed those are definitely a good buy.

Glad you went with a local firm. We purchased our semi-custom paint-grade wood Clopay doors from Home Depot and it was generally a nightmare. Weeks and weeks late due to lost paperwork, incorrect billing, and the annoyance of many, many phone calls.
These 8x7 wood doors, on sale at the time for something like 20% off, were about $2,800.
Once the installers arrived (a local firm subbed by HD), they did a hell of a job installing them, though, and we are absolutely delighted with the doors.
Chose not to order the electric opener through HD. (We only wanted it on one of our two doors.) Went and bought a cheaper, better device at Lowes with a belt-drive opener, then asked the installers if they'd do it for a little side money. They did in 40 minutes what would've taken me three hours, and I got a better opener and much cheaper install by paying those guys $75 in cash.
Our belt-drive opener, by the way, is the quietest opener I have ever heard. Excellent equipment. It's a Chamberlain Whisper Drive Plus Evercharge.
Loving our garage right now, and looking forward to working on the inside next.

Never order anything from the Home Defect. OK for walk in purchases. Indy contractors can beat the Defect every day. I do.
Yeah I'm not a big fan of HD when it comes to stuff like this. I'd rather just pay the small business guys that have been in the industry for 20+ years to do the work. I'll be sure to post up some pictures when the doors are finally installed, it'll be about 2 weeks they were special order 9 by 6'6" doors. Thanks

Forgot to mention that he also quoted me $250 per door to install high lift kits with heavy duty cycle torsion springs too.

I just purchased two C.H.I 8x7 premium 2216 doors with glass windows, high tracks for a 10' ceiling, Garaga seals and two liftmaster 3800's. The install price was $2,950. I upgraded the tracks to white powdercoat and it cost me $250 extra so the total price was $3,200 installed.

I have three of the Clopay Premium (9131) series insulated doors, double insulated steel w/windows...two 8 foot high ones on the house (attached) garage (one 8x7 and one 8x16), and one 9 foot high x 16 wide, on the detached garage/shop.
The quality of these doors is excellent...The ones on the house garage have been up 5 years so far.
In addition to the (thermal) insulation value, they also cut down on transmission of sound to the outside, which is kinda nice when I'm making a racket out in the garage and it's late.

I have CHI urethane inslated doors, R13 or 14 I think. Two 8 x 10's and one 7 x 6 low head with Liftmaster 3800's on the big doors, all installed for $3200. Very nice doors, the keep my expensive a/c in and the bugs out much better than the rollups that were there before.
