New Drag Race Shop 26 by 32

Purchased our new house one year to the date and finished the remodel this past April. We have an indoor pool and about 2800 sq feet of single story Ranch house. Then moved to finish the garage. We have about 1 acre just on the skirts of NW side of Chicago. Don't find land like this around here, so when we found it put an offer right away. Anyways I have 7 cars worth of garage. 2 car attached, 2 car shed, and my 3 car shop. Here are some pictures of the finished shop. When we bought the house the garage was a shell one outlet and two lights. I did all the finishing this summer/fall. Ran a NG line with 350' of trenching, 100 amp service and Cable. It has 10' ceilings and will be used for my drag racing operation. We build engines for a few local racers and I race Top Sportsman with my 68 Charger. Enjoy!

Nice Charger! I'm not a huge Mopar fan, but I always liked the Chargers, Super Bees/Birds, and Cuda's.
Nice shop you have it in also. Nice to have a good shop to work in.

Very nice layout. Love the Charger - Ford guys have a soft spot for Mopars anyway. Thought I saw you over on YB. Good trick getting that trailer parked in there.

Great shop and R/T. Digging Mopars, in my avatar you can just see the rear of my '68 R/T (440 powered) and my '32 roadster is a built 354 Hemi.

I don't think there's a lot of "work" going on in the shop. Looks like storage and cleaning materials in there. I'm guessing the car was built someplace else.

:headscrat

Beautiful place and car nonetheless!!!

Well no the car wasn't build there.....new shop!
The car is a nice piece of work for sure. Probably sees route 66 and maybe byron now and then?
Careful with the ceiling with the lift I bet.. Great property and you don't see that much close to Chi Town.
I sense a fight of two with the wife with that trailer parking. Don't ask my why I predict this..

Hey, Dragster Racer! Who's to say the wife didn't do the parking? Some of us have some spacial sense.

plum426 - very nice property. Was the indoor pool already there?

That's what we do now. I guide and she listens and drives if it is a blind backing situation. She is a terrible guider, but a good listener.

Thanks guys

No the wife doesn't come near me when I'm parking the trailer. When ever my friends come by they are always amazed I can jack knife the trailer in the spot. To me it's no big deal takes a couple of minutes.

Yes the pool was already in the house. We use it all the time, very little if any maintance. Pool room has 80k boiler for the radiant floor heating and 100k pool heater.

I'll snap some more pics of the garages this weekend. It was funny we sold our old house in 3 days (not thinking it would sell that quick!) last October and I went on realitor.com and typed in 6 car garage. The wife rolled her eyes and this house poped up! It needed some updated from the 70's decor, but we ended up gutting it except the bedrooms and made it how we wanted it. Still spent under what we would of bought a so-so house for without the property.he house is now basically brand new. We did everything roof, siding, insulation, drywall, plumbing, electrical. I'm in the trades so really didn't cost anything for my labor. If I paided someone to do the refinish it would of cost about 200k. It has 400 amp service and all together I have over 500k BTU of boilers and furnaces! Gas bill in the winter hovers around $250 a month so it's really not bad, I insulated the **** out of it.

The 68 Charger I built at the old shop and run 7.30's @ 188 mph. 620" aluminum Mopar engine with about 1200HP on engine and we spray it with 125HP of Nitrous. We race all over the midwest in Q16 and Top Sportsman. Been racing it for about 5 years. The 1969 Charger I restored and built when I was in High School. Best ET is 10.20 @ 128 mph. Now in street trim it will run 10.80's all day on 87 octane. Dropped compression to 9 to 1.

Give me a few and I'll post some links to some in car and out of car video.

Some more pictures of my 69 at the track and with my 73 Plymouth Scamp. I've restored and built them both in High School.

Nice shop & cars! Gotta love that 5th wheel trailer for just such parking emergencies. Did you build the T/S car yourself?

The tube chassis was built by High Speed Welding in Westmont, IL. I designed and put together the entire car. Took about 2 years start to finish.

Here are a few video links if your interested. One video is in the car and the other is outside. Both are from the same pass. Not sure how to split the screen and have them both view at the same time? We were in St. Louis for the Monster Mopar Weekend.

TURN IT UP !!!!!

Vern does get around. Hi Vern, I see ya on Moparts from time to time.

That's a beautiful property, a great shop, and though I'm a biased Mopar freak to begin with....the '68 to '70 Charger is in my opinion one of the best styled cars of all time...big fan here.... Thanks for taking the time to post. Fantastic stuff there, and it makes me want to get to work on my '68.

Beautiful Chargers. I'll show them to my wife for inspiration. She needs to repaint hers. The Fords are mine, but like somebody else said, Ford guys have a soft spot for the Dodges.

Plum Crazy is my favorite MOPAR color, as is the late 60's designs. You house and garage(s) are fabulous. Congrats! Thanks for sharing.

BTW: how on earth do you park your 40ft trailer in that jack-knifed position???

It's actually for me at least not that hard. I back it up my 300' drivewat with a few curves and thats it. I lived in the Chicago all my life and you learn to back up in tight spots.
