Well after lots of searching I finally found a bench top drill press that I liked. Its a Shop fox I know its not American made but of all of the ones I have been looking at in a certain price range this is what I found. This thing looks like its going to be very versatile and fit my needs well. Its basically a floor model cut down.

I was impressed with the weight and construction of the tool. (very little plastic) The whole thing slides forwards and back giving you plenty of space to work on big projects but still have it on a bench top. The table also swivels as does the top to get all sorts of angles if needed. I have not exactly figured out where Im going to put it in my garage. I have another thread going about drill press ideas... hopefully something will come to me for a good place to put this. Im looking for any ideas on how to make the table and drill press better. It's time to modify.

Looks like a decent drill press. I used to have a Delta radial and the first thing I made for it was a larger table plate, attached to the existing plate with flat head socket cap screws...

I used a sheet of 1/2" G-10.

The table that is on there is pretty much useless when you need to move the head out toward the front to drill a large workpiece.
