I've been watching for a dryer at a reasonable cost to go with the big compressor for the shop. Stumbled onto this one Thursday and scarfed it up that morning. With rain coming on Friday, and not being able to get things cleared out to get it in the garage, I had to drop it over at one of the warehouses for now. Got the manual for it Friday in email and the support guys are going to send me the parts list as soon as I can give them the serial numbers. I don't have the flow specs, but it's over 35 SCFM @ 100 PSIG. For reference, the desiccant column pair is 6' tall. The single column is a filter that is part of it. Should be able to have dry air at either of the blast cabinets now.

That looks like the unheated kind. Is it the type that purges with its own dry air product? Is it the timer regen kind? I wish I knew enough to Arduino up some advanced controls.

I looked at a home brew batch type with molecular sieve. The refrigerated makes more sense for me and it is overkill. The new (ish) thing for a real need is the membrane type.

Probably still homebrew a carbon oil trap, though.

Impressive amount of overkill.

Looks like a simple heatless dryer with a 10 minute cycle time. 10% air loss to purge. If you are making much less than 35cfm, this might pose an issue. Make sure it cycles with the compressor, or it will keep running and purging even when you are not using air, causing a large increase in operating hours and costs. Put a proper autodrain on that filter or it will gradually fill up and send everything to the dryer.

The industrial compressor guys talk (at length, sometimes) about how expensive these can be to operate if not set up properly. The membrane ones seem less expensive to operate. The ones from a gas separation plant arent anything like this.

Really interesting. Really glad I dont need one.
