Hello to all,
I have checked this site and forum out a few times when googling tools and other items, but thought this may be an interesting group. I have made myself a small shop in half of our basement...........my wife is awesome and has been really supportive of me having my own "space" to work on some of my bikes and repair mechanical items. I know there is wealth of knowledge here and will be soaking up different ideas from you all as I read through different threads and postings

Cheers
Kameron

Kamn: you are in the right place and now you can read and ask questions if you still have any after reading a thread about something that interests you. you can also provide the answers for us if you know them.

any chance you might want to post a picture of your basement shop so we can see it and so you can know how to post pictures?

Happy wife, Happy life so sounds like you have a keeper and hope you keep saying yes dear when it matters.

cheers and welcome

Kamn: i'll try to send some heat up your way because there are a lot of Garage Journal members up there that could use some. we are having record highs here in Seattle and supposed to be 60 today (17c) which might set another all time record because usually around 20-30 degrees this time of year here.

when you do post a few pictures i usually use the paperclip just above where you are writing your posts and attaching one picture at a time and up to 7 pictures per post. if you use a cell phone for your posts i hear tapatalk works great so give it a try and maybe ask questions if you are having any problems and i'm sure one of the members will have some help.

I'm not sure how you guys get any work done in and outside your garages when it's that cold, but all the members I've talked to from your area seem to be pretty positive and great guys.

Sometimes you just have to get it done. It was -20c (-4f) yesterday and I was out changing my alternator in the driveway on my 2005 Dodge Ram. Many layers of clothes and a bit of gloves on, gloves off type of work.:canada: Man I wish I had a heated garage.:3gears:

Hey Gerry,
do you own a M-cycle repair shop?? or just have lots of your own bikes?

Its damn cold but thats outside, luckily my shop is in the house and I recently did a major overhaul on the house (still have bits to complete in the spring) and the one thing I did was add radiators to our basement before completing it AND I added a rad on my side in the shop. Its a small space but I'm working on maximizing the usefulness of it, its only 9ft x 25ft but I have managed to get a small lathe, sandblast cabinet, 60gal compressor, small work bench, english wheel, small welding/metal working table, and storage for parts along with a laundry tub for washing up.

I wired all my plugs using 12/2, its fully insulated(also roxul sound in the floor joist cavities) and vapour barrier so its sealed and prevents any smells getting to the rest of the house along with a very well sealed door. I have installed 2 - 300cfm extraction fans (meant for hydroponics) and both on separate switches. I will get some pics up shortly......
