Hello,

First post here. I want to install a new entry door on my detached concrete block garage. The existing door is crappy and about to fall apart. Currently the door is framed with 2x10s that are screwed to the rough opening (all concrete). The hinges are attached to one of the 2x10s. I want to install a new pre-hung steel door. The biggest problem is the height of the rough opening is not common. I've checked doors at the common big box stores and nothing in stock will fit. Can pre-hung steel doors be custom ordered, or would it be best to replace the 2x10s, and order a solid wood door and hang it on the 2x10?P1010077.jpg

Any door can be custom ordered - you'll just pay big $$$ for it. For that, I think you are stuck with a custom metal or fiberglass door. There might be an un-hung door at the big box that you could cut down. Check with a larger lumber yard that has a mill work/window/door section. That can be much cheaper than a big box store because - with certain exceptions - they don't do specials at good prices. Their prices come from ordering a bunch of standard X from Y for the entire sales year.
