New Epoxy Floor by SHSS

Hey Guys
Well, did a full write up for my new epoxy floor and when I posted it something didn't work so… this time will be the quick version.

First just want to say thanks to everyone on this site. This is a great forum.

We finished a new build in Dec. with the intent to finish the garage floor at some point. We'll it's finally done. I had Jed Betellon with Superior Hard Surface Solutions www.superiorhss.com (Dayton Ohio area) finish out the new garage floor and wow did it turn out awesome! Jed has been working with the SW commercial guys on getting this project perfect and they we're even on site to answer any questions I had. Thanks Brian & Matt with SW.
I went with SW4010 Pumice Stone for the base color, 1/16" Light Earth Tone flakes with 2 coats of ArmorSeal Rexthane Urethane Clear.

Jed from SHSS is amazingly professional and right on with the details.

Garage all prepped and ready for paint.

Finally the Clear Coat. This is the first of two. It was amazing how much it evened out the finish.

what time of the day did the installer put down the first coat and second coat? was the first coat reduced by 20%?

Thanks guys. The first coat was reduced and both coats were started between 10 & 11 am.

I think somewhere between medium and heavy. They ordered 40lbs for around 700 sqft. and we ended up with half the box left. The dark tan/gray color is the base color. Jed with SHSS let me throw the flakes and I tossed very small amounts each throw to keep the 1/16" flakes even.

It's been 5 days, time to move in.
This was around $1.25 a sqft. My quote from UCoat It was similar but, would have had to do it myself. I got a quote for a polyasparatic floor and their first quote was around $9.50 a sqft. And then came down to around $5.00 as bottom dollar price.

Do you know what product you want to use?

I started moving stuff onto the new floor. It looks so good I really hated to put anything on it.

$1.25 a square foot? I got quotes from 3 companies including SHSS and they were all substantially more that that.

^I highly doubt it unless it's some sort of promotion. The material itself cost about that much.

Here's my estimation for single color w/ clearcoat:

Material: $1.25-1.50/sq-ft
Labor: $0.55 - 0.84/sq-ft
Equipment: $250 (vacuum, diamabrush, grinder)
Misc: $50

Overall, it's about $2.50 to $3.00 per sq-ft. That's a competitive pricing for epoxy floor coating.

That's kind of what I was thinking. The two quotes for epoxy were $5.00 and $5.50 per square foot and the quote for PAP was $5.40.

Absolutely LOVE the second smaller garage area. That thing is screaming for an 80 gallon compressor drill press etc...... That will keep the main garage neat and tidy. Awesome Awesome Awesome!

I don't what's the market like but base on my cost analysis, $5/sq-ft is possible on how you build up your cost. @ $5/sq-ft, there's at least 50% profit (labor) to be made, which cost a lot more than putting down plastic floor tiles like RaceDeck.

If people are willing to pay $5/sq-ft, I might have to get into this business as a side job. When it's priced like that, it will mess up the pricing for DIYers bc the price will shoots up.
