Bought a used fbf on ebay, real good condition. Decided to take it apart and lube it, with as dirty it was. One screw gave me a fight and I ended up stripping it to hell. Last person put way too much blue loctite! Anyhow, can I get new screws or do I need a rebuild kit?

Here is the little *******. I got it out without scratch ing

What is the exact part #of ratchet? Sometimes you can get the screws seperately depending upon the age of ratchet, but they always come in the repair kit. Snap-on site has been down for updating all evening.

I'm not sure.. Maybe 4-40? I couldn't find a thread that matched it in my metric set from rc's.. Tried m4 and it's too fine thread in comparison. I'll head to fastenal on Monday, I'm glad I took it apart though.. Had what seemed to be atf/water/diesel that stunk to high heavens! Lots of black chunks that looked /felt like carbon stuck everywhere.

It's a dual 80 fbf80 ratchet. Bent handle flex head 3/8. I got a great deal on it! The insides show no wear besides being dirty, and the flex head is tight and stays put. Chrome is perfect everywhere with exception of the very bottom has a few tiny dings/burrs. I'd almost say it sat in a bucket half full of oil that got rained on.. A

In my experience the fasteners SO uses are one offs or special ---you can find the correct thread pitch but not the correct length or head size. On some ratchets the fasteners aren't threaded all the way because they pass thru the pawl section. Wait till the SO site comes back up. They run about $1.00 a piece and if you intend to keep the ratchet $10 for the kit is a future investment.

The SO website came back up---looks like for all dual 80 3/8" drive the fasteners are only available in the kit---an email or call to SO might get you some . Your ratchet is $118 brand new--I wouldn't cheap out and make something fit!

Those screws are a special thread pitch and the grip length is a special length. In other words, you are not gonna find any at a hardware store. I've been there and done that; let me save you the trouble.
