I have been working on a way to store my chop saw I have had for a while now. I it the Dewalt 14" metal chop saw.
I came up with the idea for storeing it under the work bench but for a quick set up access for when I am in a quick mobile setting.
I have a band saw but the chop saw does come in handy for certain jobs.
I decided to use old stock I had laying around sinced the BOSS put me on a budget and it came rather well and functional.
I had to modify the bottom of the saw for the table top in order to use it for supporting cuts on long items.
It took awhile to come up with and easy way to support the tray when in use. The arms and the 1/2" rod are strong enough to support plenty of weight.
I used a piece of flat stock on the bottom of the table to hold the tray when folded away.

Man that's nice. It has a number of cool features. I actually bought boxes and conduit to put outlets etc on mine, but I ran out of steam and never did it. I suspect that my shop area is smaller than yours, so I get by ok with the extension cord reel hanging from the ceiling in the middle.

Nice way of putting the saw out of the way.

This is off topic, but why don't chop saws have a miter box function? Having only 90 degree cutting is very limiting. I have an old 10" cast iron miter box that I used to use for wood lumber/trim. I replaced the blade with the same abrasive cutting disc that chop saws use. I now have a chop saw miter box.

great idea, I have been trying to figure out a way to setup a chop saw on my welding bench but didnt want it taking up half the surface area. I might do something similar with my bench grinder as well :)

That is very nice, well thought out. I am having a hard time with the flat stock holding it can you post another picture?

I don't have any identifying pictures than the ones I posted but I can try to take some at a different angle.
The two flat bars are 3/4"x3/16" and the rod is 1/2". I welded the the two flat bars to the 1/2" rod in order for them to fold with no slop when lifting one of the sides. It would have been better if I had a wider platform to reduce the amount of rod on the edge of the angle supports that are welded to the table legs, but I used what I had and it works fine.
There are two smaller bolts as you can see in one of the pictures that keep the two legs up when the platform is folded back under the table.
I did fubar when I mounted the platform and I did not take into condieration the T handle screw in lock. It stuck out further than the chop saw platform and I had the platform closer to the front edge and it made contact with the table leg. I himed and hawd on weather or not to modify the saw or move the platform more in the middle. The platform was easier.

CLEVER!! NICEWORK!! Here's a couple options for easy hinges.2 links of large roller chain make a Super easy hinge.Another way is 2 PIECES 1" SQUARE TUBE welded on 1 piece then round stock welded welded to the other.Food for thought.
