Hi guys and gals. I need some help with a Mrheater mhu45ng thats in my wifes work shop. I installed it last year and its been fine. Today its trying to work but not getting there. It ignites and The exhaust fan kicks on but shuts down after about 5 seconds. No code but im thinking a flame sensor. If so how the heck do i get to it without pulling down the whole unit so i can remove the front panel. Thanks for any help.

The heat sensors are behind the right side panel...as you're looking at the front of the furnace.

I guess it depends on how it mounted. My access panel is on the left side. I can see where its at i just cant seem to get To it without removing the Front panel and that would mean pulling it off the Ceiling. For some reason they secure the sensor from the non access Side.

The flame sensor is positioned in the burner to "sense" the flame when the burner is operating. Most codes require as least 24" clearence access to this side when the unit is installed. So hopefully you should be able to access the burners, remove the sensor (one screw), Then clean the metal part of the sensor with steel wool, and reinstall it. That should fix it. HTH

I couldnt access the mounting screw it appears to be mounted from the back side. However, after removing the gas manifold i was able To squeeze my hand in far enough to clean the sensor with a piece of steel wool. Were back in action again. Thanks for the help. :rocker:
