I just wanted to introduce myself so I can ask advice later on a garage project I am planning. Anyway, I'm retired now and finally have the time to start a few new projects. I'm a pretty accomplished woodworker, electrician, mechanic, and weekend builder. I've worked as a corrosion engineer for the last 35 years but it was just what I did, not what I love, although it did put two sons through college and allow me to wrench on old turbo Porsche as a hobby. Hopefully I can contribute something here and learn a few things in the process. I'm sort of a Jack of All Trades type but always love to try new thing. I found this site because my garage is my second home.

Hi TurboToad,

Wow, how did we all miss this post ??? Late welcome to the forum...sounds like you have a lot of experience that you will hopefully find the time to share with us.

I hear ya about "Jack of all trades" .... I think that some people, in these days of "specialisation" lose track of the VITAL ability that some few have to "cope with it all " . Man, you need to start sharing your knowledge- please find the time to post !!!

Respectfully,

Coolabah

edit: Oh, and hey..., retired???? So hanging out for that but it is like 15 years away for me :(

Welcome to GJ! Don't let the lack of responses deter you, most of us are terrible about checking the introduction section.

Enjoy the forum, there's a lot of good people and a ton of good info here

Yes, until recently we have been pretty lax about rolling out the welcome mate for new folks here in the intro forum. But, that's changing.

Welcome aboard; hope you are still visiting and enjoying the site. Post pics when you can, and hop on into some of our discussions!

Uh-oh: he hasn't logged on since 1/7. Maybe the cold reception here made him feel it wasn't worth getting involved with us. :(

Toad don't worry about the lack of response, the welcome section is kind of hidden here and most never bother to look. If you want to get a real welcome post up some of your woodworking projects, we don't see nearly enough of them. Welcome anyway and stick around.

Welcome. This forum is by far one of the best sources of knowledge and entertainment I've found. The members are generally very good people, offer insight and usually well mannered. One great thing I've found is that there are a LOT of members and most are pretty smart people so for most topics (technical especially) you're often getting expert advice. Hopefully you don't end up spending as much money as the rest of us have once you start getting good ideas here...
