Hello guys and gals, I've been lurking and reading for about a week now and said it was about time I joined. I've been getting up a decent little list of things to get to prepare for my build. I won't be laying a floor immediately but I'm looking to get some knowledge about building a pole garage. The reason for my build? I'm restoring a 1964.5 Ford Mustang and I'm growing weary of paying those storage fees. Besides I would feel way better having it home.

I think for the gist of it I got it figured out. But probably don't and thus questions will follow. I figured I may could ask here first before starting a new thread and I did utilize the search... but when doing a pole garage, what pole sizes are okay to utilize for the build? IE 4x4, 4x6, 6x6, etc...

I would do the following to get ready for your build:

1. Research the building permits for your area and find out the sizing and distances from the property line that are allowed.

2. Set a realistic budget

3. Get some estimates from contractors for building the garage

Then you can tweak your ideas and make an compromises that you may have to make....

In my case I had originally saved up X amount to build a shop and then realized it was going to cost closer to double that for what I wanted so I am still saving up... Do it the way you want, or you will regret it.
