Hello everyone. I've been looking around this site for a while trying to get a few ideas before I start my basement/future garage for my motorcycles project. At the moment I have 3 motorcycles but I am always looking to add another at any time. My wife and I just moved into a new house from a condo in downtown Atlanta about 2 years ago. The one thing I wanted out of a house was to have a place for a garage and to be able to have all of my bikes together. Before the house I had one in Atlanta and the other two at my parents place about an hour away. Well, I finally have them all together and am currently trying to figure out exactly what I want to do before I put up sheetrock....outlets, stereo wires, hoist, etc...

I look forward to getting some good ideas from everyone.

Welcome. What part of town are you in?

I am actually a little outside Atlanta now. Still have the condo in downtown but rent it out now. We bought a house out in Grayson, near Snelleville. Wife works at the CDC in Decatur, so it's not to bad of a drive for her.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I do look forward to getting ideas from the forum. I've already found the motorcycle thread on garages, just have to figure out exactly what I want to do with mine. It is going to be a lounge/garage for the bikes.

Welcome!
Depending on how new you are here, take a look at the Vises of Garage Journal thread and jump-start an addiction you didn't know you had.

Come on out to my swap meet this Saturday morning at the Atlanta Dragway in Commerce! Some guys from GJ have shown up.

We should do a get-together up there some time.

Hey Brad thanks for the invite. There are some things I will be looking for vise, drill press, hoist, etc...but unfortunately, the wife is in her first few months of pregnancy and not feeling too well, so we are kind of stuck at the house these days.

So you are near Athens, huh. I've been reading the thread by BuickFarmer who is in Athens. I am going to have to figure out how to get invited to his place he's got out there when he's done with it. I am only 45 minutes away from Athens.

Nice, I grew up in Decatur (back when it was affordable) and a lot of my friend's parents and neighbors worked for CDC. I definitely wouldn't want to commute from Gwinnett though.

I'm in Dunwoody now and commute to Kennesaw which is far, but at least is against traffic and offers a lot of alternative routes. One of my coworkers actually commutes to Kennesaw from Lawrenceville. Some people in this town are crazy.

Congrats on the newcomer!

Yea, my step father used to drive in to his office every day from Monroe. It too him well over an hour. Funny thing, it used to take my wife 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta to get to cdc in Decatur. From Grayson, it takes her just 10 minutes longer. CDC also provides shuttles from different places around Atlanta. She'll probably start riding one of them soon.

My wife is from Bogota, Colombia, so she doesn't/didn't know her way around very well or all of the different little towns/communities. She wanted to look for a place up 400 near Alpharetta. I am glad I talked her out of that.

Yes, be very glad of that. 400 is a nightmare for commuters. Weekends in Alpharetta aren't any better. Everyone and their mother is out on the roads.
