Welcome from another newbie.
Here's a random bit of information that I think is interesting, totally out of context: people are very good at judging vertical lines, pretty good at horizontal, and terrible at other angles. So, when designing a quick project that you don't want to fuss over (e.g. banging together a couple of chairs to sit by the fire pit in the yard), avoid vertical components because everyone will notice if they are a little off. Nobody will notice small errors in any other direction.
