Hello My name is Ted Bauer. I have just moved my family back to my home state of Kansas, previously in Nebraska. My wife and I have bought a house with a 3 car garage and a 19'X30' garage condo.
Ultimately we are looking to use our home garage for 2 cars with a flex bay for house projects, kids toys etc and use the garage condo to support my car hobby. I have 3 what I call never ending projects in a 65 corvette, 92 GMC Typhoon and a 56 chevy 3100. So we have 5 cars total.
I am at the point where I can customize the condo anyway I want in terms of electrical services etc. On paper I have laid out a plan to hold 3 cars using a lift and staggering the cars so one pulls in nose first onto/under the lift and the other backs in So that the drivers door swings open to the middle in both cases. Then I would like to use the inside most corner as a storage area and work space. and leave the front quadrant open for mobility and vehicle access.
Here are pictures of what I have in mind but I would really appreciate feedback on these ideas so that I can adjust before going to far in the build. I am not going to immediately put a lift in until I get a feel for how 2 cars look and feel in the space.
For the building itself this is what was in my head. 100 amp service; (7) 110 outlets. 220 outlet for the compressor and lift. an over head reversible fan,and run a compressed air system through the walls with an outlet on each wall.The one near the garage door will have a 50' reel attached to go anywhere. The outlet over the bench would be to run air tools on projects. and I don't really have a need for the 3rd outlet other than while I am at I might as well in case I want it in the future.
The ceiling is tall. On the garage door side the door itself is 14' tall and I believe the building starts at 20' and slopes up to 30' at the end. Lots of room for loft type storage.
In regards to climate control I am putting in a industrial ceiling fan centered to help cool in the summer and push heat down in the winter. I am going to see how this works using a forced air propane heater on the ground. I am just worried about how well the fan will combat all the heat rising into no man's land.
For lighting I was going to use (4) 8' Led fixtures centered over each quadrant of the garage and use spot lighting else where.
