I have seen lots of references to this forum from the motorcycle forums that I am on. We bought an old 30's adobe farm house about a year ago north of Santa Fe. Our old house that we are selling had a detached 24x24 garage that fit the bikes but not both cars was good. Now we want to add to this house a 2 car garage and space to hold the 6 motorcycles. I have been lurking here for a while so just gathering info.

If you haven't found them already look through some of the threads on key word search "garage build." As an example here is one http://bit.ly/1yL1TOG. I just read through a thread last night of a GJ member in Norther Norway and the challenges he faced with building a garage. You can pick up great info from the thread author and all the commenters. It is a great way to get motivated as well. Good luck on your project.

one option might be to build the same 24 x 24 garage and just build it a bit taller with say 14 or 16 foot tall ceilings. I've seen a few guys that put up commercial racks that their cars could park under and they had a lift to put the motorcycles on the upper rack.

I've been to Sante Fe once and from what i remember we could have stayed for weeks because scenery and food were awesome. did you retire there or did you figure out a way to make a living there?

i'm guessing there are a few hundred trails to ride bikes on that keep life interesting?

welcome

Thanks for the welcome. I work in the restaurant industry. I actually have been in NM since 79 and was a partner in a restaurant south of Albuquerque. I am now employed by a Pueblo in northern NM. There is a ton of motorcycle roads and dirt up here. I love the area.

Welcome from a recent NM transplant. I'm in Albuquerque but many Sunday's will find me roaming back roads north of Sante Fe on my Seca 650 Turbo.

To avoid (or at least reduce) scorn and criticism we need pictures of the house and motorcycles as well as a build thread when you get started on the garage ;)

Handen: I totally agree we need a few pictures even if it's just of the old church downtown to start so you know how to post them. then when you start your build thread you will have plenty of pictures to bring the members in for a peak.

just a reminder if you are doing a build thread make sure to take plenty of before and during pictures on a regular basis because you can not have too many pictures on your thread.

the food is what would bring me back to Sante Fe so you are in the right business and maybe you'll start another restaurant some day.
