Just found this site. Wish I had 3 months ago. Almost complete on my project, at least the shell. Still have electric and interior and most of the exterior trim, but getting there.

I look forward to gleaning all the info I can off of this site and all of you.

Enclosed is a pic from last week.

My biggest project by far but suprising how fast it has gone together especially with only me providing about 90% of the labor(my parents did help quite a bit over thanksgiving). The only things I contracted out were the slab and the shingles so there is a definite sense of accomplishment so far. From design, to staying on budget(for the most part) and the build itself.

Glad to be here and I have already grabbed a bunch of ideas in just an hour of browsing.

That's a good lookin' toybox you've got there too.

I've just got a 30x30 metal shop back behind the house...No character at all.

Thanks,

I designed it to match the profile of my house, although the house has a rock veneer(out of my budget for this project) but the pitch (12/12) matches the house and will paint to match. Also using all cedar trim as that is what is on the house, though it will be painted. Still get that rough look somewhat. I will post some more construction pics at some point. It will have some character when complete. It is 20 x 28, any larger would have required a zoning variance and I didn't want to weed through that process. Has an upstairs room built into the trusses. Will use that for storage for now, but will eventually end up being additional "living" space. Downstairs is all mine... Also an 8' x 16 door. Had to fit the boat with a folded wakeboard tower.

Thanks. Cold there today?? :)

Anything less than a 16' wide door was not an option. I have never had one less than that. The boat trailer is 8' wide and i wanted the option to put a vehicle in as well.

Mine is 10'...That's plenty to get the Goat in and out...Or my truck...Or whatever. It's pretty much exclusively an auto-hobby building, so I only needed a single door for vehicular entry/egress.

/just wanted to say egress

Back at you... :). I guess Texas knows how we feel now.

Will get a thread started in the near future. I have it chronicled pretty well and have made some mistakes I can detail out, nothing major, but have really enjoyed it. It is kind of a dual purpose thing. We have a storage unit we wanted to get rid of, and the boat, athough new to us, has been stored about 15 miles away, the opposite direction of the lake, so this was the natural, at least to me, decision to make, and believe it or not, the wife went along with it.(the key was to mention the storage). Actually the boat was her idea(or a pool) I went with the boat. The fun part starts now with all the trim and finishing out the interior upstairs and down.
