So I've been lurking on here for a few months and decided to pull the trigger and join the other day! A little about me, I worked For Philly Fire Dept For 25 Years retired in June at the ripe ol age of 45! I've always worked another job due to my rotating schedule at the F.D. I've worked doin everything from pipe welding and HVAC Service to daily p.m. on Tri Axles and Heavy equipment for a excavating company...About 7 years ago I went to work part time about 30-40 hours a week for a Custom Bike Shop that not only does custom builds(yes we have a frame jig and our own VIN numbers) service and repairs to internet part sales When our Powder Coater retired 4 years ago we were devistated and didn't know what to do, I mean he was right next door, so after some brain storming. We decided to buy the business..We are a small 6 man shop..Anyway I worked there part-time until June when I retired..I took a few months off to catch up on things around the house, Ride my bikes, hit the Shore( That's the Beach to everyone not from Philly or Jersey area) So at the end of the summer i became full time working anywhere from 40 to70 hours a week! The Powder Coating Shop is Our Bread and Butter We do work for everyone from a guy who wants air cleaner coated to Carnival cruise line and The Philly Parking Authority( yup we powder coated 10k parking meters)..It keeps a positive cash flow coming in during the slow season which is November til February here in Philly..Lot's of shops and dealers lay guys off but because of the powder coat shop we're able to keep everyone working year round or not cutting hours..So that's pretty much it for now I don't know if I'm allowed to give my shop a plug and that's not why I'm on here but if anyone wants the website or my email address just shoot me a Pm.. Again we're plenty busy and I'm only here because i love tools and anything mechanical, Motorized or not!
