Hello all, I've been reading posts here for some time and finally decided to sign up. Have learned alot from posts. Still working on shop (started last year at end of May). Shop is 24' X 36' with 14" walls (built for future install of lift), fully insulated (R19), and natural gas Modine hanging shop heater (125,000 BTU). Just finished sheeting walls inside with OSB and painting. Went with the Kilz oil based primer which many on here said covered OSB fairly well. And it did in 2 coats (great tip from members at GarageJournal).
The lift has been purchased and delivered to my employer and is presently rat-holed in a storage building. I chose a Bendpak 2-post 10,000lb extra wide asymmetric. This too after reading posts here at Garage Journal. Will be hauling home at end of this week to erect. Question for those who have installed these before...Anyone ever use a cherry picker to stand up the posts? Dont have no tractor, forklift, boom, etc...and the shop is a pole building, rafters will not support and are not designed for picking/lifting. Seen some say that a few guys can walk them up. Not sure I like that idea (after mannually setting poles for shop last year), lol.
Anyway, Just thought I'd say hi and introduce myself. About my alias...I've been a big fan of C.S. Lewis from the early seventies after reading the Chronicles of Narnia and have used the alias "King Caspian" from early internet days.
