Hello,
I am here to get ideas on setting up a shop for my husband. We had to sell our dairy herd and I am converting the milking part of the pole barn for the shop. I have the milking equipment out (and for sale, any takers?), and just a few stall pipes left to torch/grind off.
Formerly, hubby used one stall in the garage for fixing his tractors, so this is a big step up.
Organizing all the tools, spare parts, etc. is a challenge, but I have already gotten some ideas from this forum.

Also (formerly) from a farm.
My cousin recently got out of milking cows & we were talking about making part of the barn into a workshop.

After cutting the stalls, etc out.... the first thing I would do is put a nice floor in it. Fill in the gutters & feed areas & cement everything flat. Preferably with in floor heat (or at least the tubes for it)
If you are in the country, you may also have free wood......sooooo... get a outdoor woodburner to heat the shop / floor.
I'd put some walls up & insulate it, etc so it can be used in winter. Put a nice big entry door in front... the list is endless.

We are in western Wi, near Arcadia.
Our dairy barn is/was part of a larger pole barn. Thanks for the tips, we have the stalls out, took out the barn cleaner yesterday and are about ready to cement the gutters.
Unfortunately, floor heat is not going to work, the ceiling is too low.
We do plan on a wood burner and maybe an LB White combo. Not sure yet about the wood stove (size and style). We do have plenty of fire wood for cutting.
