Stopping by to say Hi.

First post on this forum, been creeping awhile on here and holy hell there's a lot of information and I'm definitely jealous of the shops I've seen on here! I finally have my own garage and this site may be the best/worst thing for me right now.

Anyways, we just built our first home with a 3.5 car garage, so that's what I have to work with until I build the shop out behind the house. Definitely found some good information from y'all that helped me decided on what lighting to go with in the garage and I'm very happy with it. Now that we're all moved in, I'm working on organizing the garage and setting it up as the funds are available.

Here's the house.

First time I got to park my truck in my own garage (was really excited ha).

Welcome to the forum.

What are you planning on doing in the garage until you get the shop built? For that matter, what are you planning on doing in the shop when it is built? I use my garage/shop mostly for woodworking, once in awhile I will do a metal working project. Sometimes I will do some minor repair work on our two cars and also some routine maintenance work on them like oil changes, etc. But mostly I do woodworking projects.

Welcome! Are you in the North or bottom of the state?
Nice house/garage! Looks like you are in the woods.

Thanks!

I'm north of La Crosse. Our lot is like 1/2 wooded, 1/4 prairie grass, and 1/4 sand now lol. When we bought the lot it was mostly wooded, so I went to work with my Stihl chainsaw and cleared trees for the house to be built. The logger also took some large pines out for me. Eventually, I'll get the yard going, but not a top priority right now.

Before I started clearing trees/brush.

The garage is for the obvious parking of our vehicles, the boat in the summer, and storing outside tools/lawn equipment. I also do some light woodworking, random repairs on stuff, maintenance on vehicles, and drinking with friends. Luckily I have a friend across town who has a car lift so that works well for now.

Shop will be for working on toys, storing toys, storing camper, storing random stuff, and working on random other projects (wood/metal). Planning on a 40x80 with a single lift and a full-length lean-to on one side, but will all depend on how much it's gonna cost of course.
