New garage bug protection?

I'm building a new 24' X 28' garage in Florida and was wondering about bug protection. They sprayed under the foundation before it was poured (yesterday). I wanted to use green wood throughout but the builder said it was cost prohibitive and would add about 33% to the price of the lumber.
He suggests a boric acid spray once completed. He said it would glisten in the sun once done and would protect the wood for years.

Which way should I go?" Suggestions please!

I've decided to go with green sill plates and the boric acid spray on the rest of the garage. The garage will be sided with hardy board and will have a metal roof..

I thought in the key they went with green wood for buildings...

Why not make the walls out of block?

Just a note on the metal roof part. Have the roof installed before any venting penetrations are cut in, if you are having any at all. This way you can assure yourself that there will not be any right on a standing seam that end up being VERY difficult to seal.

My house had termites when we moved in (termite inspection missed them). As I'm framing out my garage and remodeling rooms in the house all of the wood is getting sprayed with a sodium borate (Timbor is the brand). It's supposed to last indefinitely and is non-toxic to mammals. Besides spraying the studs with a solution, if you leave a light dusting of the powder on horizontal members like the sil plate, it's more prone to stick to bugs and get kill them. Besides termites it works on ants, roaches, and a few other insects.
