So I finally started to build my new garage after years of flip-flopping. Here is the area I had to work with;

The main part garage will be 32' wide x 28' deep with an upstairs attic truss storage area of about 14' x 32'. I am also adding a 10' x 32' shop on the back of the garage. I will be installing radiant floor heating in the entire first level and air conditioning the shop on the back in summer. I have lots of questions and plans, but for now here are some progress pics;

Footers dug out

Footers poured and block being laid

This is as far as they got as of today

You can see the 2 overhead doors and 36" man door cutouts in the front. I plan on having a set of double doors between the garage and work area 6' wide and there will be a 36" man door out the back where I will eventually build a lean to over a burning table for torch work.

Cheers :beer:

There is a footer under the walls, 24" wide by 12" deep. I guess the angle of the pics is just hiding it. There are 5 courses of block on top of the footer. They just attached the 2" insulation around the inside of the foundation today. Hopefully if the rain holds out they will back fill and grade the gravel for placing the mesh and heating pex which will happen next week. I should have a floor poured by the middle of next week if the weather cooperates.

Here is a pic of the footer;

Here are the latest photos;

I asked a question regarding insulation in the heat and AC forum, but only got one reply. Any thoughts on not insulating the wall between the 2 sections? Good or bad idea?

Here's hoping for good weather.

Thanks

I'm going to insulate the stud walls as I will be running a small window AC unit just in the back part of the garage in the summer months. I was just wondering how insulating the foundation between the areas would affect the heating. Still don't have any definitive answers.
