New Garage Build

Hi all,

I am in the process of getting a new garage built.

20 x 25 = ~500'sq

Block construction. Unfinished block inside, stucco on the outside. Metal roof.

The dimensions, roofing, and gable orientation are intended to match the existing construction.

100 amp sub-panel

Fresh water and drain

Mini-split AC unit and no heat (FL)



Phase 2 will be a shed roof and outdoor kitchen at the rear.

I am looking for suggestions, ideas, and things you wish you had done when you built your garage.

I already had to compromise on a few things like roof/ceiling/door height. The wiring inside will all be pipe and I should have the flexibility to add, remove, or change as needed since none of it will be buried in a wall.

I have a couple large tool boxes and all my storage is in lateral file cabinets and a card catalog cabinet for hardware. Workbench and welding table.

I will be using this as general shop space. I don't have a lot of large tools or power requirements outside of welders. I work on cars, bikes, boats, and general house projects.

I'm specifically curious about flooring solutions, a good paint solution for block, and lighting ideas.

I'm curious about heating and insulation plans. EFIS - Foam on exterior and stucco over it? I like block but tough to insulate without just building another wall inside.

No insulation planned other than under the roof for heat. Just not needed in my climate.
