My garage door opener took it's final **** and quit on me, it's a Crafstman and one of the gears on the motor stripped out. it could be repaired but I think it's just time to buy a new one.I repaired it quite a few times already.

I need some good recommendations on a new opener, I'm thinking I should start looking at a different brand besides Crapsman.:bigun2:

Thank in advance.

I've had a Genie screw drive for 20 + years and no issues. Will buy another someday when this one finally fails.

I've never had a bad opener. I installed a Genie chain drive in 1976 in one of my garages. It is still running troublefree today. I installed a Stanley chain drive in another garage in 1991. It too is still running today without repairs. My current garage has two old Linear openers from the 1960s. They are now in their 3rd garage in the last 50 years and still work every day troublefree.
I doubt any brand made today will perform like the old ones did, but you should still get good run time from them.
