New garage floor

I am building a 16X26 addition to my garage. The floor is just going to be a regular non machined floor. I always liked the painted/ epoxy floor coating but was always afraid of it coming off. The reason I say that is a I used a lot of solvents like laquer thinner, brake cleaner, etc. Would it be worth it to paint the floor with something. I like the looks, but since the floor is not gonna be ultra smooth, I dont know if its worth it. Anything that would last, or would the solvents I use ruin it? Any idea of cost?

If its added while its on the truck it would be no good because Im sure the foundation guy is gonna do the garage floor and the driveway extension at the same time. I do not want the drive to be colored. Now if you can add it while you are pouring just the garage floor, that would work. I dont know if thats possible.

My floor is epoxy. I just use drain pans when using chemicals. Also I work at a dealer and get every thing on thr floor there and it dosnt faze it!

Most epoxy manufactures will give you information on just how long different types of solvents can sit on the epoxy before they start to burn it. Our Novilacs are made to be real solvent resistant. They apply these epoxies on insides of chemical tanks. So there are products to meet your needs.
Compare the technical data sheets on different products. They have been certified by these standards.

Thinners and brake-cleaner evaporate pretty quickly. You should be fine with a good urethane coating over top an epoxy base-coat.

If you are going to have these solvents puddling on a daily basis you should coat with Novolac and get a good insurance policy.

Ask the concrete guy. I've seen color added to a freshly poured slab during the pour. Maybe have it "stamped" to look like slate or tile while it's being done. Could look remarkable.

It would not sit on there long periods of time. Is this something I need professionally done or is it something I can do myself? Any Ide of cost for 16X26?

If you add color to your concrete mix, you still have to diamond grind it, epoxy and polyurethane it to protect the surface. If this is the route you want to go, then have your mason provide a smooth flat surface.
