New garage, I need some ideas!

Hey guys, I should be starting the moving-in process after we close this week. It'll probably be a bit slow but I want to focus on the garage.

It's very plain right now and what I'd like to concentrate on first is adding some nice Dallas Cowboys accents along the walls, maybe like a nice 12" Cowboy Blue accent line running all along the wall. Throwing in some Stars, #8's, #22's, #88's in there.

I really want my garage to be a cool spot for my friends to come and hang out. I plan on having a ping pong table and an old big screen TV in there, so let's hear em!

I'm really just asking for any good interior design tips you can give me. Any random ideas are welcome! :bounce:

Here's what I'll be working with, it's a 4 car garage, it's hard to see the first car bay.

Great space!
So what are the dimensions?
Also, what are you planning on using it for, other than the occassional hang-out?
Do you do actual car restoration, or maybe detailing, whatever. Just some ideas will help with how to get started.
Is the floor treated in some way? It's hard to tell from the pics. Might be a good idea to put a nice epoxy down before you have stuff in there?
Looks like fun,
Annette

I don't have the dimensions right now, I'll probably get it tomorrow. By my guestimate, 40x20 may be a conserative guess.

I plan on using it mostly for detailing if anything, the previous owner for whatever reason didn't have a drain installed *sigh* but I can always squeegee out the water afterwards. Maybe for a few home projects, definitely nothing too big though.

The floor is treated I believe, it may actually be epoxy but I'm not 100% sure, it's definitely something though.

So are you "handy", ie would you want to build stuff yourself, or would you rather buy cabinets to install?
Since you have such a nice big area to work with, you could easily designate zones, which makes set-up and upkeep much easier.
Will you also be using your garage for typical household storage, like gardening equipment or kids stuff?
The main issue is funds, of course. Are you thinking of spending the money and getting as much done before you move in as possible, or will it be getting done as funds are available?
The floor does look nice, so that's a bonus that you don't have to spend the time or money on it.

The only interior design tip I can think of is perforated roller shades instead of blinds, Maybe more light in the detailing bay, and of course Chicago Bear blue accents instead of Cowboy blue

Ack! We just finished closing on the house yesterday so I've been a bit busy.

BoCRon: I'd like to consider myself handy, but realistically speaking I'd probably be better off buying some cabinets (if they're not too $$$). The house has tons of storage inside already so I don't think there'll be TOO much storage, there'll probably be 2-3 cars in the garage most of the time. I wouldn't mind sacrificing my spot if I could use that space better though.
As for funding, things like painting I'm sure will be fine, but nice cabinets/tool storage and things might have to wait a bit.

thefairlaneman: the dealership?

Silver Lexus: thanks! aren't you from autopia also? or is DC?

ersatzs23: I'm not quite sure what the flooring is right now, could it already be epoxy? If not, can I still add epoxy over it and be alright?

snorvet: Haven't even thought of window shades, I'll definitely look into those. As for the Bears accents, that's crazy talk!

VvvJRvvV: There seems to have been a problem with your link, you sent me to the last place team in the NFC East, surely you must've meant to show me the neon sign for America's team, correct? I'll tell you what, for your mistake, just send me the items in the 2nd link you provided, and I won't hold anything against you.

thefairlaneman: No wifey here :) And there's already a laundry room in the house, so I'm good on that front.

VonMoldy: Workin on it!!

Other than the Parksmart mat system, does anyone know another way to keep the floor dry/clean easily and quickly?

All I can think of is using a really big squeegee to get all the water out after a rain/car wash.
