Been thinking of garage and building pool since I moved here in 1998. Finally last year(Nov) my buddy, Custom Home Builder has slowed alot, as we all know. So I started the ball rolling. Really wanted 30 x 35... But he had alot of excess materials and some trusses that a remodel backed out on, so the price was right. planning on doing a landing across the back of the rear wall about 7 feet off the floor and 10 feet across the rear.

Really wanted 30 x 35.

Just out of curiosity, what the odd size? (25 & 35) To me the most cost effective is to build in 2' increments. 24',26', etc. At a 5' increment you are producing excess waste. Or am I missing something?

Well yes it is really 24' when you do the block..I say 25'..... wanted it wider but with ROW and the setbacks and the planned pool....ugh...... I'm going to post more pics this week. Roof is on and shingled today... 6 T5 lights came in and waiting on the bulbs and the Stucco guy.. Ordered the shelving for the rear wall. HD type... from Got-Rack.com in Tampa...They are painting and refurbing my stuff.

Well coming darn good here. Kinda had a slow down with stucco guys, but they came through yesterday. The Garage guys are here as we type and still waiting for electric hookup. Trying to get floor down, but these electric guys are so darn unpredictable. T5 lights are ready to go and the pad and paint are the only things left. The shelves are order awaiting delivery ( Teardrop shelves( HD kind)

MLB is on the coast. After the 2004 hurricane season, much of the state adopted code similar to South Florida. Block construction is pretty much the norm for new construction.

So it's built to county codes? I'm just wondering if you did a W7 door, it's more then block, it's anchoring too.

Nice storm cave. I was going to move to Melbourne about 7 years ago when I was working for Rockwell Collins. Housing is probably cheaper now.

I was wondering about that method. Core filled concrete block on starter bars is used for underground garages and retaining walls down here. I would be comforting to know that your garage will be as strong as a bunker.

This is for BC iron works. I'm having a 30'x36'x12' built now in Brevard county. With all the stuff the building dept. wants, I contacted C & D Construction in Cocoa. They are doing a good job. With the hurricanes we have, I had it built with concrete block over a metal building. It has two 10'x10' rollup doors,because I'm having a Challeger Auto lift installed next week. No more jack stands and crawling under vehicle. A hip roof is nice, but I had a gable installed for the trusses were designed with a storage area.
