New Garage in NZ

Hey Guys,

Closed on the property on the 16th (yep first chance to get on the net seriously!)

Got a 3 bdrm brick house and a 1.5 garage! Not much but it is a starting point. I have not had a chance to make any changes to this place at all. It is a bare canvas and I just need to figure out workspace and storage.

Lots of potential there! Lighting and electrical do look dodgy, but that looks like a nice basic structure. From my own limited experience I think the key to making a small space work is to take your time planning. Keep the pics coming.

Don't think I've seen a 1.5 car garage before. Kind of a cool concept, no worries about excluding a car in order to build a shop. What are your plans for the space?

Hopefully the electrical inside the boxes is ok and you can just properly strap it in place and clean up the overall appearance. Personally, I think I would replace the single tube fixtures with double tube if you are going to be working much out there. You could eliminate that hanging junction box at the same time. Enjoy

Wellcome on board, Dodgy wiring that would go with the dodgy(shakey) ground down there.

Lighting plan to start is get a couple of dozen beers and a sparky friend round! We will put in double flouro tubes and clean up the rest of the wiring. Just need to sit down with pencil and paper to plan out my workspaces. Really keen to make a butcher block workbench top and have some mates with decent wood working tools!

Agree with the others. A little planning and careful execution can make a smaller space seem and function a lot better than you might expect. Keep the pictures coming. We like pictures!
