Hi there, looking to have a garage built, most likely the size of 24x40x9.

What kind of prices should I be seeing. I have received a few quotes and all have been around the 10k mark.

Is that too high? Just looking for a metal garage I guess with 2 doors and a walk in door.

Is there an alternative to the outrageous price for Concrete?

The price depends on where you live. Put your location in your profile so members in your area can help with answers. Two years ago we had a 24' x 25' x 10" metal garage built with 2 overhead doors & one walk in door & was $10K, plus the concrete 4" thick was 6K & that is in southwestern Virginia.

I built a 32x24 garage 15 years ago and have since added on to it twice. It's still not big enough. The biggest mistake I made was 24 ft wide.If you possibly can...make it at least 28 ft wide. Also...really think about your electrical and put plenty of conduits underneath going from side to side. This saves tremendously on wiring costs.Don't forget about future network and maybe future solar.Think, think, think brfore your pour.

More details are needed here. As Mike said, location is a huge factor in the pricing you'll see. At the price point you've mentioned, I'll venture a guess that we're talking about the carport-style buildings that use tubular steel. Have you worked out your framing spacing, horizontal vs vertical sheeting, snow load requirements, windows, door sizes, roll up vs sectional, etc.? For $10k nowadays, you're probably looking at the cheapest construction/parts possible like 5' spacing, horizontal ribs, no windows, roll up doors...things that most of us will do our best to turn you away from.

I’m in So. California and for my 23’ x 40’ x 9’ attached garage ( 3 walls were built ) it was $130,000. The front and rear garage doors were $8000 on top of that. The concrete alone was $15,000. Three truckloads, 3 drivers, 3 finishers, a pump and a man to run the pump.

What are you getting for $10,000 ???????

Yeah, I'm trying to fugure out if the OP is talking about just the slab here. You can't get a large shed delivered from your local rural roadside shed guy for $10,000 anymore.
