Over the last 12 months or so I've been slowly making progress towards adding a detached garage. The first step was clearing the trees (we had way too many) then in July we had the grading completed for the pad. Due to the slope of our lot and desired location of the shop, we are somewhat limited on the dimensions. The pad is approximately 50'x80' and is substantially complete other than adding some fill dirt to the right of the pad to reduce the transition slope. I am currently trying to decide which way to orient trusses based on 2 different options:
1) 40'x40'x12' with 12' lean-to on the back (gutters on front and back)
2) 40'x50'x12' with 15' "carport" on the front (gutters on sides)
If anyone has a garage with a covered area on the front, I'm very interested in how you like it and any pictures you have. Any other opinions are welcome as well.
