New Single Garage Project Scotland

Hello Folk Ive been looking around in here for a while and now i have decided that i need to get a garage off my own but due to a very tight budget it will be long winded at time due to me only moving into this house late last year. but will keep you updated on my progress.

So any way i was looking for a timber garage that would fit my budget and made a wee cheeky bid on this





and to my suprize i won the auction which is great

its a 11ft x 20ft garage with a metal up and over door

i now need to go and dismantle it and move it home

now i need to get my finger out and dig and prep for concrete

thanks for that it be great once its all assembled im going to insulate it and board the inside so it be nice and warm in the winter

Hello the garage is in kit form thats bolted together with couch bolts so im hoping to transport it in sections

very nice i like the sierra cosworth but maybe in the future i get round to owining one not got many pictures of it just now it is stored in my mates garage just the rooling sheel with the rest off the parts up in my attic space in the house

Well today ive spent all day in the garden removing 15 tree stumps 8.5 hours later and there all out thanks to the help off my 3 ton engine lifter . I can now start to sink my posts for my fence im building then I can start to dig out for the base for the garage

That'll be a nice little shop, 11x20 can be very serviceable indeed if it's laid out well. My vote goes for cupboards!

I like the idea of dismantling and re-using an existing structure, Here's hoping your move goes well and you can get it all back together on a new pad.

thanks its going to be great when its done i hope i can get it moved easely and it goes back together again i be taking loads of pictures for reference

time for a wee update

well we went on saturday to dismantle and move the garage so at 7:30 am we meet up at my works unit hooked up the trailer to my mate van and were on our way (stopping at the snack van to fuel up before we left ) we arrived at just before 9:00 am at the sellers house and the garage looks 100% as per description off sales description we dismantled it in around 2.0 hrs the only shocking descovery we made was the seller had assured me he had got the electrics disconected by a trained electrician only to find wire ends taped up with insulation tape and still live as we found out when the crow bar slipped when lifting side off and spiked the cable and tripped his house out total idiot just as well it was only 240 volts so we got it loaded up after this tied down and moved home it was a great day sun was splitting hot a nice change upp here in scotland

Thats a great score and it looks like it dismantle fairly well and should be a straight forward job to put it back together.

Got a wee bit done in the back garden since it was dry and the sun was out even the wife offered to give me a hand knocking down the wall and rotten wooden fence and loading my van so could take the rubbish to the dump

thanks matt its moving along slowly just now due to working overtime so sunday was my only day off this week and to my suprize it was raining grrrrr i love scotland really so all i could do was start doing the drawings for it to give to the planning department so they can check it dont need planning permission although i phoned them the other day and gave them a brief description on what i will be building they see no problem with it so it sounds good

Im going to dig out the soil pack it with wacker plate lay 4 " of compacted ******** then damp course membrane then pour 5" of concrete should be a good solid base

Im In Bo'ness Just outside Edinburgh Im looking forward to getting it up and finished just waiting on the local council seal of approval and holidays to pass.
Im hopping to have the base in for end off july then it just be a case of rebuilding it then jobs a good one

The rs turbo is in my rented garage at the moment surronded by boxes a **** i try and dig out some pictures and post them for you to see

Well a little update I got confirmation from the local council today to say I don't need planning permission for building the garage so I can bash on now and get the base done and get it built .
im now away for 2 weeks holiday in the caravan to relax which I can do better nowing the council have said its ok

thats me returned from my 2 weeks holiday in the caravan feeling all refreshed now to get on with digging out for the ******** to go down and get this concrete pad laid

Glad to see that you are making progress. The planning council can be a real experience. In the middle of my build we found out that we needed to upgrade the electrical service which requires a permit. I had to go back and apply for that. You cannot rush that process at all.
