Hello all,
I have been hanging out for a few months pouring over other members' fantastic projects and trying to increase me knowledge.
We have recently purchased a home and I have finally got the green light from the Boss and county to build a detached garage!
It will be approximately 28' x 20' with a one bedroom /bathroom apartment (man cave) above. The main focus will be to house my truck, classic car (yet to be purchased, lawn mower, and golf cart. I also detail our cars often so I want the ability to perform this task in inclimate weather. I am not particularly handy so a shop will not be part of the build. but I think a small work bench would be in order. I have assembled a few ideas and wanted to consult the garage experts for thoughts on "must haves".
My initial thoughts in no particular order:
Oversize doors (10 x 7)
Do I need a separate 6' door for the golf cart and lawnmower?
Drains under each bay
Additional 110 outlets spaced around garage (~10') w/ one 220 outlet
Leaning toward can lighting accented with fluorescent lighting over the parking spaces
9 foot ceiling in garage area
Exterior lighting
I have an older compressor but only use it for tires. I don't think I need a separate room to house the unit. Thoughts?
Insulation upstairs and downstairs
Smoke and CO2 detectors
Storage cabinets in garage
Contemplating tearing up existing concrete by the house for pavers but that may be cost prohibitive
Polished concrete flooring
Separate entrance to the upstairs living space
Pull down storage in apartment area
Any thoughts on my list would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!
