Hey guys new to this forum found it because of a forum on dootalk. I am just in the beginning phase of putting up a 24x25 garage. They are supposed to start the ground work this week and the pad shortly after that, the building is going to go up in September or October. It’s been a long time coming for me my wife and I bought a pice of land in Cape Breton Nova Scotia right on the Cabot trail not far from my parents three years ago and moved our mini home there. The original plan was to put up a garage right away but like everything things came up and it never happened. We have finally decided that nows the time and I’m getting pretty excited. It’s going to be used mostly for storage and wenching on my toys .

Welcome to the forum from Southwestern California.

Do you remember the movie line where after learning how big the shark was, the Captain said "We are going to need a bigger boat"

Well, have a good look at the size of your checkbook.

Best wishes for your success.

I’d love to go bigger and we left enough room beside it to expand down the road. Hopefully within the next 10 years go 30x40. Right now the budget doesn’t allow and to go bigger than 600sq foot you need to get an engineer involved and it becomes a lot more pricy here to meet code. I’m lucky I am able to do a lot of the work myself after the she’ll goes up, I’m an electrician by trade so I’ll be doing the wiring myself with a cousin. Of mine who is also an electrician. One of my best friends is also a carpenter, so we are going to finish the inside ourselves.

Shamus29.....welcome aboard from Ohio from a retired ‘sparky’ as well. Everyone has to start somewhere, and everyone has their own paths to follow. You do what’s best for you and your family. Photos please and if you get a minute, please add a location in your profile. Good luck

Welcome from the tropical state of Iowa! The corn is tall and humidity is high! Enjoy your build and definitely post pics. I concur with the other posts, do what your budget allows for. I went significantly smaller than what I originally wanted. I also skipped the in floor heat and went for overhead furnace and mini split for less money. It’s all about give and take, and the checkbook. Best of luck!

When you said ‘mini home’.....is that like the little houses you see built on a trailer frame that are being shown on TV currently? Maybe a photo or 6 on your home would be of interest. Thx.

Could I yes definitely could but it would never get done if I did, just don’t have the time. I would have to take time off to get it done which is kind of counterproductive in saving money once it’s up I will be able to pick at it on weekends and evenings until it’s finished.

No not one of those it’s what most people probably call a mobile home here in Nova Scotia they are commonly known as mini homes and I for get that most places don’t call them that. Here’s a picture though that’s from when she landed don’t have any more recent ones on my phone.

I was into atvs before I bought my first sled, and just recently got back into it when my wife’s father sold us his old bike for 500 bucks because they was the best offer he got from a trade in when he bought a new one. Now I have a 2020 canam maverick trail too. You could say that I love my toys lol. I’m lucky though when it comes to sled part of the season I can leave from home and the rest the farthest I have to truck is 20 minutes and there’s usually snow from December till May most years.

On another note what part of the maritimes is she from?

Today’s finally the day ground was broken on the shop pretty excited. This is the only shot I got when I went home at lunch to let my dogs out. I will get more after work unfortunately it’s too windy to fly the drone today or I’d get some Aerial shots.
