Hi all;

A couple questions - i have a new garage and take posession of my new home in a month.

1. I'd like to epoxy coat the footings as well in the garage. What should I use to seal the small gap between the garage floor and the footing? Secondly, do i need to grind down the footing to smooth it out prior to applying the epoxy?

2. Since its a new floor, can i get away with shop vac'ing to remove contaminents? Or do i need to wash it with a degreaser etc... prior to etching?

Thanks in advance,

1. I would use an acrylic caulk to fill the small gap. You should not have to grind down the stem wall before applying an epoxy, it does not see the same use/abuse that the floor will. You should plan on 2 thin coats of epoxy on the stem wall. (depending on the product used, you will have to mix this in small batches)
2. Just for safety sake I always recommend degreasing the concrete before the acid etch. Prep is the most important part of the process.
