New Garage Smell

I had a 20X30 metal garage built back in April 2019. I had insulation installed with the build. I've had the condensation problem a lot of folks deal with but thats a minor thing. The main problem I have is an odor inside the building that I don't know what to do about.

When ever the garage is closed up for an extended period of time (more than a few hours) it gets a strong chemical smell inside. It's had the smell from day one, even before I put anything in the building. I haven't been able to figure out whats causing the smell; I thought it was the insulation but it passes the sniff test when I get up close to it. I some times think it may be the concrete slab still curing but I just can't tell for sure. Opening the roll up door airs the garage out pretty quick so over the summer it hasn't been too much of a problem. Now that winters here it's a little more irritating since I keep the doors closed.

Have any of ya'll encountered this with new construction? Any ideas on what it could be and how to get rid of the odor permanently? I'll try to put some pics of the garage and insulation in case that helps.

What brand of insulation?
That may be your issue as some insulation off gasses until the binder drys.
I would complain to the manufacturer and installer.

I checked the insulation for markings and didn't find any, no manufacture name.

A lot of the FEMA trailers used after Katrina had formaldehyde in the insulation with resulting complaints. I would check with the installer for source of insulation.
Painted metal is just painted meal and should not have an odor.

Buy a really BIG fan from Home Depot or Lowe’s and ventilate the heck out of it.

Maybe the odor will go away.

I'm hoping the odor eventually goes away. Opening the roll up door airs the garage out quick but in the winter that's gonna make it uncomfortable. The insulation doesn't have an obvious odor that I can tell up close but like you said it may off gas a little and when the garage is closed up it gets more noticeable. I'll try to find out where the insulation came from and go from there. Thanks
