Made a new garage stool out of a old chevy 350. Just got to sand blast and paint. Suggestions on paint color/colors. Also looking for suggestions on something cool to make out of the empty block.

What is the part one sits on?

As far as the block, coffee table maybe, with a glass top ( shatterproof ) ?

Awesome stool.

Paint colors, blue and gray.

Do not anger the Chevy Gods with blue..... Orange & Black maybe but never blue!! :) :3gears:

Coffee table with the block is always cool..... I saw an end table one time with the block upright and had magazines rolled up for storage that was pretty neat as well.

LOL, what ?!?! you chevy guys not like blue ? :spit:

Its not about being blue. The SBC engines were traditionally orange for the majority of their history until they became the "Corporate" engine used in all GM products. Then they became blue. Generally, orange is just considered to be "proper" for them.

I just finished my shop stool on Saturday. Needs stronger springs, though.

I'd definitely get that beauty powder coated. Silver or chrome as it is a piece of art and should shine. For the block use some pistons welded to the corners at 4 corners and put a flat plexiglass on it for a table was one idea i had. also thought about standing it on end and using pistons out the front/top to make shelves for dvd/game system and tv on top/front of block. blast it to get it shiny then seal it if you like that look

submariner: Right now it allows too much lateral movement. I'll have a better idea of what it will actually be like after I find the correct springs. The wire gauge I chose is too small.
