New garage

Hey folks, super glad I found this site and the forum. I am totally new to garage building and know very little about it. I need to build a detached garage for my boat and ideally would like to have 10' high RV door. However, I just found out that my HOA wants the walls to be 10' maximum. Would it be possible to somehow build a garage with 10' tall door, perhaps with cathedral ceiling? Any other gotchas I should know of?

Welcome aboard t2s. Your question is a tough one. A 10' door would require at least a 2' header imo.

Possibly use a roll up door positioned to fit between truss & gable end wall.

Is the location flat or is there slope?
Does the HOA dictate your roof style?

You could if you put the door on the gable end

the framing would not be standard and is would be fun if you have to meet seismic requirements
