Going to pour the floor in a new three car garage and wanted to get the experts advice. There is base course in the garage now to level out the rough rocky earth in New Mexico. What is the best couse of action for preping for pouring the floor.
Plan of attack:
Gravel / Base course
Compact Sub layer with a tamping machine
Sand ( even out the flooring)
Dow Blue Boad insulation 2"
6x6 wire mesh (with chairs or bricks tokeep the wire two inches below the surface of the cement)

Welcome to GJ, Ranger. Nice clean Bug!

You should also have some sort of vapor barrier under the insulation. Or, the insulation will need to be taped securely to prevent moisture migration. It may be easier to spread a 10 mil vapor barrier (visqueen, etc) to get full coverage.

Since you see, to have the head height in the center bay, consider thickening the slab where needed for the chance to add a lift in the future. Not that you plan to have one right now, but a 6-8" thick for a couple pads would not add much if any to the overall cost. Having to do it later would be costly.

Besides protecting nice rides, what do you plan to use the garage for?
