Did any of you see this? I know there was a thread awhile back speculating about the release of a locking head ratchet but, now you have a press release from Gearwrench saying you can get your locking head ratchet in 84 tooth trim with a longer handle than its Armstrong brother.

The question is where are they made? USA or Taiwan. I'll let you know as soon as I can find them in stock.

Obviously going to be off shore.

Well not to a certainty, the GW brand pinless impacts are USA.

That said GW handles and etching lead me to believe they're going to be Asian copies, or versions if you prefer. Plus the only domestic made 84T ratchet is a unique design and exclusive to Craftsman. If they were 88T i'd wonder, but....im going with Asian coo. Im sure they'll be nice and sell like hotcakes.

Gw's only USA made ratchet is their torque wrenches. It's pretty certain this locking flex will be Asian. It wouldn't surprise me if it was china or tawain.

Not really surprising since apex owns both Armstrong and gearwrench and all of kd tools has switched to gearwrench brand

Also look at what they have done with Armstrong pinless swivels aswell

Who knows?
No real reason to move from Armstrong to Gearwrench aside from the number of teeth and handle length.:dunno:

AH, maybe I should clarify. I wasn't talking about making a switch from one to the other (as in a complete set). I only have the 3/8 flexheaded Armstrong. I SHOULD have said that when the time comes to pick up the 1/4" and 1/2" versions, I'd choose Armstrong over the GW versions.

Anyone else wonder why they didn't apply the same locking mechanism to their newest 120t ratchets. From a marketing perspective they would be able to boast the highest tooth count locking flex head. As it is they're late to the dance already attended by Matco/Armstrong.

Only Gearwrench knows the answer to that question. Maybe they'll add a 120xp version later. :dunno:

I wouldn't say they're late to the dance though. Armstrong 88 tooth locking flex head ratchets maybe coming but, they're not widely available yet. Order one and see if you get a 60 tooth version shipped to you. Why have to buy rebuild kits for more teeth?:headscrat
I think Gearwrench is breaking new ground with these locking flex head ratchets. Where else are you going to get a locking flex head ratchet that doesn't come from a tool truck?. Carlyle? Did anyone notice that in the press release, Gearwrench listed a 24 inch long 1/2 drive version?

My thoughts exactly. I'm going to pick a 3/8 drive up.
EDIT: Not yet listed on the GW website...ugh.
