I own the 2 piece set and they've come in handy a few times. The smallest one is great for popping seals. The only thing slightly negative about the video was in the beginning when you compare the Gearwrench model to the large SK (i think) model. It was like comparing apples to oranges. The first thing anybody that uses tools is going to think is that's not the bar for that application and they should have used a a lady foot bar. I liked the detail about the locking mechanism. I think if you could have demoed various sizes of bars using different angles in a cramped engine compartment it would have been better. I like the videos of your tools in action. You might want to consider videos of Gearwrench tools being made.

Who's making these. All of them look the same. The one's I looked at on the SO truck where stamped USA I believe, and the handle looked like there ratchet and breaker handles. Everyone else's looked the same, but had the brand name painted on the handle. Is SO making their own? There way too pricey if they are rebranded.

I'm sure the SO's are a different OEM. The head went together differently. I wonder why their website say's not branded. I'm sure they were stamped Snap-on

Also, since you didn't see the video at first, Do you know what version of flash you have (could it have been updating)?

The reason I ask, is the only version of flash available for my 64 bit os, is OLD (something like flash 7). So all these damn flash videos can't be seen.

I want to know this, too.
Also, I'd like to know how much "wiggle" there may be when it's extended by even one detent. I just hate how, for example, extentable breaker bars have a slop when it's extended at the slightest.

I bought the one about a foot long when Amazon had them for less than $15, and I use it more often than a normal prybar. Part of that may be that its new and my first lady foot or indexing prybar, but it works very nicely.

Maybe I shouldn't be doing this, but I use the teardrop shape as a wedge, stick in the nose and tap the rear with a hammer to force things apart.

If you need someone to try them out and do a report on them I can be your person. I work on Punch Press die shoes all day long and they look like they would come in very handy. We use a couple of different sizes of die lift (pry bars for dies) but not all work. So we have to stack blocks to get between. A set of those could prove to be VERY handy and useful. I may have to talk to the boss today. Either the one at work or the one here at home

I have seen two broken Snap On indexable pry bars so far. I guess if your in a tight spot they might come in handy because you wont be able to get much torque on them, but if I'm prying on something heavy i'll stick to solid pry bars. So for me their a gimmick to try to get more money out of people.

A few comments in response to the questions/comments I've read here.

The pivot does NOT ratchet. It is a fixed gear, and plenty strong. There are a few degrees of wobble, but it does not affect operation at all.

The handle appears to be a separate piece that is slid over and fixed to the shaft of the pry bar. So, it is definitely possible that different handles are made for different companies.

These tools have a lifetime warranty.

There does not seem to be a patent number on the version that I have. I wonder if Craftsman, Gearwrench, and others are all derivatives from the same design, and who owns the rights/patent?

I've been [slowly] evaluating a 24" version for a few weeks now. So far, I cannot push the pry bar to its limits. It is a beast, and after handling one, I cannot imagine how anyone can call it a gimmick.

You do have to be careful that the index thing is fully locked into place, and I think its fair to treat them a bit like a ratchet vs breaker bar, and use the right tool for the job. Sometimes prying is more about getting the right angle and leverage than it is about brute force, sometimes its not.

I highly doubt it. As far as I can tell, the pivot components and gearing/lock vary in size depending on the length of the tool and thickness of the shaft.

They look pretty cool, but I would have focused more on how they are different than any other pry bars (lady foot in particular). As was mentioned previously, a demo of it's advantages in a cramped engine bay would have been nice. My $.02
