New gizmo

Picked this up a few weeks ago. Any Ideas? The other side has a female opening. 1/2 inch. There is nothing to hold a socket and I can't remove the male end. I did not try to force it.

Is it hollow like a valve adjusting tool?

No, In fact the male end is peened inside. I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't look to see if it was hollow!
