I thought after 40 odd posts it was a bit remiss of me to not introduce myself, so..
I'm a 40yo guy who is currently living in remote Western Australia. Its a small town of less than 700 residents. Our next closest town is 135km away and the first real town is 371km. Perth (which is where our house is) is 892km. Google maps shows us here
I'm one of the full time nursing staff in town employed by the mining company. I work an 8 day on/ 6 day off roster. Those 8 days on consist of a 12 hour shift and then 12 hours on call. There is no other nursing staff on duty.... makes for some interesting times (and long days... 30hours shifts arent uncommon) I can tell you. My wife (who's also a nurse) covers one of my alternate swings and so during that time I am Mr Mom.. so in all that the wife, two kids and I get 6 days together a month.
I have always been interested in design and woodworking and some of my earliest memories consist of tearing apart old radios and electronics that a neighbour used to bring home. Probably like most of us I spent a lot of time in the shed watching Dad making something.. and "helping".
Probably like most of us we progress onto bigger and bigger things.... Boxes, Furniture, Hiring mini excavators to dig in soakwells and then onto welding
I enjoy doing a variety of things including a bit of tech diving (its a bit hard doing this in the middle of the desert
And some 4wd...
I'm very much a jack of all trades, master of none. I'll see you around the boards putting in my $0.02 or more likely being envious of other peoples ideas!
