So first off hello
I'm currently building a new construction house with a attached 3 car garage, looking forward to this as I've never had a garage with any house I've been in. Now I'm running into some issues, as to what all I will need in the future and for right now! So currently the main part of the garage is gonna be 20x22 with a double door, and the other side will be a 10x20 which I'm turning into my shop/work area
I'm a mechanic by trade ( aircraft) but do my own car repairs/restoration on the side for fun. So mostly I'm looking at this, the pad will be 4" thick so it should support a small 2 post lift ( when I can afford it), the builder is gonna be running 60amp sub panel out to the garage, ( still trying to figure out a good location for it) as well as a gas line for a heater. I just asked about the rough in for a sink as well and it looks like that is a go as well ( hot and cold with drain) what else should I be looking for? Any other things that would be a good addition to the base layout of the garage?
The lighting is just stock ( what they install) as well as the wiring for the plugs, I was gonna do conduit for all other uses from the 60 amp panel, this will run a air compressor, the lift when I get one, and the plugs for grinders, welders, and what ever else I can think of.
The doors are gonna be 8 ft tall and the inside height is 12 ft tall so I'll have storage above the doors, and some going down the wall/end. The whole space is mine to develop to be used for what I please, but we will be parking in the garage on the double door side.
Beside for water, heat, electricity, and 4" thick pad what else should I look into getting?
Thanks
In advance

Hi and welcome. I'm in the Dewinton area south of Calgary. What district are you building in?

Put in lots of plugs. Builders don't put in enough in a standard house. They will also install the panel flush with the wall. If you want to add cirsuits later it will be easier, but the panel will look ugly.

There is a new kind of garage door opener made by Liftmaster I think. A conventional door opener has the chain or screw running back to the motor. With these new ones the motor mounts above the door and turns the torsion bar to lift the door. It will be nice to not have the motor in the way when you get your lift. Get a plugin on the wall for the opener.

Building out in Chestemere, I'm looking forward to having a garage. I've been working in the elements for too long now. I'll make sure that I ask for the panel to be surface mounted, unless it's code for it not to be. The issue I have with the builder putting in plugs, is they will make them all on the same circuit, and then I have to go in and repair/fix it so I'm not popping c/b all the time. I'll have to look into the garage door opener, as well as the type of door I'm getting and see if it will work for me.
Thanks
