Figured I'd title this in the standard 'New guy from PLACE'

I've been poking around this site since about a year ago, which is when I bought my first house (March 2014). It has a wonderful old barn (the house was built in 1913, the barn sometime later, haven't come across records on when it was actually built) with 3 sections, as you can see in this picture (the exterior is a picture from the listing, the barn has since been somewhat repaired/repainted and I had the roof replaced in September):

Interior is a whole lotta old wood.

According to my...well experienced neighbor (he's old), the original owner of the house was an expert cabinet maker, and the whole back half of the barn was a wood shop, with at least a half-dozen tools running off a single motor with a belt system. Would have loved to see that.

Anyway, I'm going to start a thread on this, but my immediate plans are to figure out how to get some kind of heat out there so I can make it at least comfortable for some work on the miata during the winter. If that ends up being a propane heater so be it, but I'd like to avoid insulating the whole thing for now. Future plans are grand, would like to get a slab poured in the garage area with radiant heating...but that's off in the distance.

Anyway, I've already learned a lot from you folks, looking forward to experiencing other people's ideas and being part of the community :)

Welcome to the GJ. I have friends in CT. That looks a great old building.
Thank you! Yeah it's pretty cool, definitely a great place to spend time when it's not 20 degrees F :)

That is bad ***! Welcome! Where in CT are you located?

Thank you! Just north of you in Cromwell.

Joe: if you need a few swing tips just ask or PM me and i'll help. next time you go to hit the range lift your chin a bit and have your eyes looking at the ball more down your nose so you can make a full shoulder turn. with good balance you'll be amazed how much better you'll hit it.

I haven't played much or any in the last 4 years trying to get a new business started, but i'm looking forward to playing again because i was fairly good at one time and even was at Champions tour Q school in 2005.

cheers and is there room for a 10 x 10 x 10 golf cage to hit balls upstairs in your barn garage?

New member here, from CT too! Thought I'd join the fray... Love that barn. Reminds me of the one at the house I grew up in (in CT) built around turn of the century. I'm in fairfield county, if you ever need someone to work on that miata with you, I'm always in need of a garage to work on my car. My gravel driveway is brutal. :3gears::eyecrazy::scared:
