Hello, my name is Chris. Husband of One, father of Two and friend to many. I found this site searching for garage ideas. I think I've spent 6+ hours on this site alone already today. Holy Schnikes!

I currently have a single car unattached garage (Model T garage) with a dirt/gravel floor. Right now it is just storage for everything not bolted down as we are trying to sell our historic home.

I like to perform my own vehicle maintenance when I can. I like to tinker with things, rebuild them, restore them or customize them. I collect, ride and restore Old School BMX bikes. I have a few beach cruisers too. I probably have about 18-20 bikes with many parts. It's a sickness I guess. Although I do ride them all, just not at the same time }: >

The biggest item that still eludes me in my dream garage planning is how to store and display my bikes while still leaving room for all my workshop and lawn equipment. I have a few ideas already and will probably start with some sketches and get some kind of rough outline. It will stay rough until we actually purchase the house. At least a few bikes will need to be accessible to my kids and my wife so mounting them high up on the wall is out. If anyone has already tackled this problem, let me know. I'd love to see what you've done.

I look forward to becoming a regular contributing member and sharing ideas with you guys here at the garage journal. :D

Ah the old ancestral home. My father is from there and his brother spent all his life there. Jack owned and ran Peddlers Bicycle shop there until his death a few years back. Welcome to the board.

Larry_g it is a small world afterall! Nice shop by the way.

Jack, RIP. Loved that guy. I last saw him earlier on the same day of his accident. I stopped by the shop to pick up a bike shipping box and he started chatting about the good old days of Schwinn. He shared a tube of thin mint cookies with me before I left. It was a nasty day out full of snow and ice so I was off work.

I started going to the shop in 1986 and I live even closer to the shop than in my youth. So close in fact, I see Harry Truman almost every day.

Jack always had a kind word for me when I stopped in for parts. He always was quick to say hello to me before I saw him whenever I would see him at the bakery in the morning or at a restaurant. I used to help him out with his computers. He was a fine man and well liked in the community. I still see his son Andy from time to time in town or at the local parades when we ride with the shop.
